Friday night was the night we'd all been waiting for - the 2014 To Hull and Back Anthology launch, at Foyles bookshop in Bristol!
As you may already know from previous blog posts, I was a judge for the short story competition which led to this anthology, along with other members of my writing group. It was a pleasure and an honour to read all of the stories and be part of the whole experience. It was wonderful to meet some of the authors at the launch - they'd travelled from various places in the UK and one came all the way form France! We had readings from the first and second place winners, pictures, signings, snacks and lots and lots of wine. Waaaaaaay too much wine in fact!
It felt like the book was a group achievement, not just the writing group but will all the people in it, and it's fantastic to be part of that. I'm so grateful to everyone involved, and especially Chris Fielden for making it all possible.
The most exciting thing about it is, we get to do it all over again next year! The competition is already open, you can enter it here:
